Oregon Mathematics Engineering Science Achievement (MESA)

Oregon Mathematics Engineering Science Achievement is a pre-college academic program hosted by Portland State University that equips underrepresented students with science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), invention, and 21st-century skills. MESA reframes these skills into how students can help others in their daily lives, connecting academic work to their real lives and aspirations. As a result, they are better prepared to graduate from high school, enroll in postsecondary education, and compete in a global marketplace.

 

 

Center for African Immigrants & Refugees Organization (CAIRO)

The Center for African Immigrants & Refugees Organization mission is to enhance social justice and achieve parity for the diverse African immigrants and refugees communities through organizing, collaborative leadership, and service advocacy. CAIRO’s four major areas of concentration are community organizing, civic engagement, leadership development and policy advocacy. CAIRO is a first year partner at RHS and currently looking to support new students and families not receiving support currently.

College Possible

College Possible makes college admission and success possible for low-income students through an intensive curriculum of coaching and support. College Possible works with students throughout their junior and senior year. Services also extend throughout college to support student success.

Native American Youth and Family Center (NAYA)

The Native American Youth and Family Center (NAYA) offers youth advocacy for all self-identified Native American and indigenous youth at RHS. Via case management, youth advocates work one-on-one with students in helping create goals to reach academic success, while adhering to, as well as promoting native culture, teachings, and values. Additionally, youth advocates work with all self-identified Native American and indigenous families in connecting them with full wrap-around services.

Latino Network

The most motivated Latinx student confronts systemic barriers to college and career success. Latino Network’s Escalera program works to break down these barriers. Escalera offers an intensive year-round college-preparation program to Reynolds High School students. Instructors facilitate after-school and summer programs for high school cohorts of 11th and 12th graders. In addition, the Early Escalera program provides a head start for motivated 9th and 10th grade students.

 

 

 

Immigrant & Refugee Community Organization (IRCO)

Immigrant Refugee Community Organization promotes the integration of refugees, immigrants and the community at large into a self-sufficient, healthy and inclusive multi-ethnic society. Founded in 1976 by refugees, for refugees, IRCO has over 40 years of history and experience working with Portland's refugee and immigrant communities. IRCO provides services for many different ethnic groups. Currently, they lead and run the BASS ( Black African Student Success ) and provide services once a week for Slavic students.

 

 

El Programa Hispano Católico (EPHC)

The Warriors of Wellness community health worker serves as a liaison between health/social services and the community to provide support to Latinx youth and families that have chronic illnesses. Additionally, community health workers provide culturally appropriate health education and information, give informal counseling and guidance on health behaviors, and advocate for individual and community health needs.

 

 

 

 

Raiders Compete at SkillsUSA

Two Reynolds students, Olivia Hall Gomez and Moira Salchenberg, competed at the SkillsUSA State Leadership Conference at the Oregon National Guard Camp Withycombe military base.  Both students competed in the Job Skill Demonstration Open.  Moira's demonstration of crocheting scored 5th place and Olivia's demonstration of porosity took scored 1st place.  Olivia explained porosity (the hair's ability to retain moisture), identified types of porosity, how to test for porosity, and described how to select hair products for hair with a particular porosity.  Olivia will compete on a national leve

Self Enhancement Inc. (SEI)

Self Enhancement Inc’s school day service coordinators provide academic guidance and monitor each student’s scholastic achievement, attendance, and behavior. After school, SEI provides homework tutorials and various enrichment classes in addition to providing a 6 week summer engagement program including credit recovery, job readiness training, and internship opportunities.
