Accelerated Learning *
Examples: Completes school work at a high level; retains more information with less repetition; bored with routine work; may disrupt class when work is finished.
Analytical Thinking *
Examples: Demonstrates complex thinking; thinks logically and critically; observes intensely and notices depth of details in surroundings; enjoys planning and organizing.
Uses Advanced Language *
Examples: Large vocabulary, uses descriptive language, modifies language for different situations, advanced sense of humor, asks unusual questions to find out more information
Emotional Intelligence and Sensitivity *
Examples: Intense concern for human issues and strong sense of fairness, expresses feelings through words or art, cares deeply but may mask sensitivity, demonstrates high expectations for self and others, seems to overreact at times
Leadership *
Examples: Adapts readily to new situations, displays leadership qualities, willing to take a risk
Problem Solving and Critical Thinking *
Examples: Demonstrates high levels of logical reasoning, intuition, and problem-solving abilities, often finds and corrects own and other's mistakes, questions teachers, school protocols, and rules, sees cause and effect relationship easily, creates new designs, invents

Intellectual giftedness describes someone who is capable of high performance in many areas due to a set of individual attributes, such as persistent intellectual curiosity, considerable depth of knowledge in multiple areas, high level of critical and abstract thinking, concern for world problems and/or fairness, and an unusually high intensity and/or depth of feeling. Academic talent is a specific aptitude in one or more academic areas, such as math or reading, due to an innate understanding and/or highly developed practice.
Determination of Rate and Level of Learning
Needs of talented and gifted students are met in the classroom, mostly by addressing their advanced rate and level of learning. Please note how often your student demonstrates an advanced rate and level of learning:
Teachers: If you are referring a student for TAG eligibility in math and/or reading, please note which assessments provide evidence of high achievement.
Characteristics
Giftedness can be expressed in many ways although the characteristics listed below are common to gifted students. Please respond with how often you notice the following traits in your student.
