SRO Survey

SRO at Walt Morey Middle School

Reynolds School District is committed to ensuring that students, families, staff, community partners, and community members feel safe and welcome while at school. The district is currently reviewing the engagement of School Resource Officers (SROs) in our schools to determine what that relationship may look like in the future.

In order to make sure that we make a well-informed decision for the Reynolds community, we would like to hear the voices of our students to determine the best fit for our schools.

What is a School Resource Officer (SRO)?

The SROs in Reynolds School District are city police officers or county sheriff deputies assigned to specific schools to act as a liaison between schools, law enforcement, and social services.  They provide frontline emergency response if a violent, active threat is present on school campuses, and they provide community assistance with system partners such as social service providers and community-based support programs.

What schools in Reynolds School District have had or currently have SROs on campus?

All three middle schools and both high schools have had or currently have SROs on campus.  Each SRO is also available to help as needed and on-call at each of our eleven elementary schools.

At the request of the Reynolds Board of Directors, we are asking students to complete a survey to help us gather feedback on this topic and the role that SROs play in our buildings and on our school campuses.
