Reynolds School District and Oregon State Assessments for 2024-2025
Every year students in grades 3-8 and 11, throughout Oregon take state assessments prescribed by the Oregon Department of Education. In addition, Reynolds School District uses Acadience for K-5 assessment of literacy and i-Ready for K-5 math. Renaissance STAR as both their interim and progress monitoring assessments for students in grades 6th-8th grade for both math and reading. Acadience -Spanish is used in grades Kindergarten through 3rd grade to measure Spanish language literacy.

The purpose of the assessments is to show individual student growth over time and to provide supplementary student-specific data that teachers can use to ensure each and every child is on track to reach goals for college and career readiness.

Oregon state law requires all districts to inform parents that a form is available from the Oregon Department of Education that provides the opportunity to opt your child out of the ELA and/or Math assessments for the school year. The form must be filed annually and is available in 14 languages. Should you choose to opt your child out of providing valuable information about his/her progress in English Language Arts and/or Math as compared to peers statewide, then please fill out the form found on this website and submit it to Rachel Aazzerah at 1204 NE 201st Avenue, Fairview, OR 97024, or return the form to your child's school.

Rachel A. Aazzerah, MS, MA, is the Director of Assessment and Systems Improvement for Reynolds School District. She has 24 years’ experience in education as a middle and high school science and math educator, Title I Coordinator, District Test Coordinator, District Improvement Specialist, STEAM-Math Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) and varsity athletic coach for volleyball, basketball and track and field. In addition, she has years’ experience in the development and implementation of math and science content standards and assessments at the district, state and national level. In her career she has also served as the Science, Social Sciences and Math Assessment Specialist at the Oregon Department of Education and as the Senior Manager of Test Development for the Next Generation Science Standards based assessments at the American Institutes for Research. In her free time, Rachel loves spending time with her family and traveling.
