Talented and Gifted (TAG)
District TAG Mission and Vision
Reynolds School District is committed to an educational program that recognizes, identifies, and serves the unique needs of talented and gifted (TAG) students. Talented and gifted students are those who have been identified according to Oregon Administrative Rule (OAR) 581-022-2325. TAG students in Reynolds demonstrate a pattern of exceptional ability, performance, or achievement when compared with others of their age, experience, or environment nationally and in the local district community. Eligibility decisions are based on a preponderance of evidence that considers a child’s background, experiences, and opportunities to learn.
The district focuses on addressing ethnic, racial and socio-economic disproportionality in the identification of students as talented and gifted. The district will continually work toward providing academic services that accommodate the assessed levels and accelerated rates of learning of identified TAG students.
Reynolds School District ensures that all students from all populations in the District have access to the TAG assessment process and, if identified, receive TAG services. All second-grade students have an opportunity to take an assessment for potential TAG eligibility. Please see the TAG Assessments Information page for more details.
Students who are not in second may be referred for TAG eligibility. If you would like to refer a student, please complete the Talented and Gifted Student Survey. Arrangements will be made with the student's teacher and school to gather additional evidence for eligibility and if needed, conduct additional testing. The identification team will meet and parents and teachers will be notified of student eligibility.
Once students are identified, they will receive TAG services. TAG services in Reynolds are daily modifications to core curriculum and instruction that accommodate the student’s assessed levels of learning and accelerated rates of learning in the area(s) in which the student is identified. TAG services may also include social emotional supports. TAG services are provided by the classroom teacher(s) with resources and support from building TAG coordinators, the district TAG TOSA, and additional staff as needed such as special education teachers, counselors, and administrators.
For more information, please see the District TAG Plan. You may also contact your building TAG coordinator (see list below) or Christine Taylor, District TAG Specialist.
