Career and Technical Education is designed to provide opportunities for students to become career aware, explore career possibilities, and prepare and train for their future career pathways. There are six career clusters, and within these clusters, students participate in Programs of Study that help them gain the employability skills, problem-solving skills, technical skills, and industry knowledge that will help them access high wage, high skilled and in-demand jobs. Students can participate in exploratory coursework, and they can also make the decision to complete an entire pathway. Pathway completers are guided through three credits of specific courses that include the industry-specific training, certifications, dual credit, and work-based experiences that can help them succeed in their future careers.

Students are placed into a cohort and work outside the traditional classroom environment. The program offers a well-rounded solution for students who prefer a hands-on approach to education. Students are placed in real-world partnerships with local and regional apprenticeships and community organizations to explore their skills, create community connections, and find successful employment pathways. Work based experiences are integrated with classroom opportunities for meeting state standards for the Oregon high school diploma.
