Construction of the new Fairview, Troutdale and Wilkes elementary buildings is well underway. To allow work to begin on the playgrounds, fields, parking lots and other outdoor spaces, the old buildings must first be removed.
Demolition and abatement work on all three schools is expected to begin June 21, providing contractors the maximum time possible to work while students are on summer break. The process will start with abatement work and once that is complete the actual demolition work will begin.
You can watch demolition work happen in real-time via our live video feeds of the elementary schools:
Every year at Hartley the Multnomah County Health Department offers free dental sealants to 2nd and 3rd grade students. We will be sending home a permission slip with your 2nd and/or 3rd grade student sometime this week. Please complete the permission slip and return it to school if you would like to have your student participate in the Free program. The Dental Sealants will be scheduled sometime after January 1st and are done here at school.
Margaret Scott second and third grade students have the opportunity to have dental sealants applied to their teeth to strengthen and protect them.

Hartley is asking all students to check-in (return) their devices and chargers to their classroom teacher the week of May 31st-June 3rd. Teachers will be checking devices to make sure they are in good working order (screen not damaged; all keys working and intact; headphone port clear; charger in working condition) before they are checked out to the to K-4th grade students for the summer. We are also asking families to sign the Student Summer Device Pledge for 2022. The device pledge will also be available at the Hartley picnic for families to sign.
We are asking all students to turn in their technology devices (iPad or Chromebook), chargers, and hotspots (if you have one) for the summer.
Students who return their devices will receive a PRIZE!
Cohort A:
- Bring to school on Wednesday, June 16
CDL only, Cohort B, Cohort A (who couldn't bring their device to school):
Drive-up event at Salish Ponds

Our Chromebooks and iPads are ready to be checked out. Students will begin bringing devices to and from home and school as needed and for practicing the routine. This will help our community be prepared to adjust to online learning if an entire classroom, grade level, or our school were to quarantine. We are hopeful this will not be something we face, but we do want to be prepared to minimize impact on student learning and engagement just in case. Students will be sent home with a device (K-1 iPad, 2-5 Chromebook) and a charger.
