The final draft for the 2013-14 School Year Calendar has been approved.
Kindergarten Registration for the 2013-14 school year will be on Thursday, May 23, from 3:30-6:30. Please bring your child's immunization record, birth certificate, and proof of address.
The starting and ending times for Wilkes Elementary is changing for 2017-18 school year.
Buses and parent drop-off will be 8:00 AM. Monday late start will be 9:10 AM. The school day will end at 2:45 PM.
The holidays are just around the corner. The 3rd Annual Wilkes Holiday Bazaar is planned for Saturday, December 8, from 9:00am-4:00pm in the gym.
The 4th and 5th grades will be performing in their Music Program tonight at 7:00 pm in the Wilkes gym. Families should arrive at 6:45 pm. The program will last approximately 45 min to 1 hour.

Our family is growing! The Reynolds School Board recently voted on a necessary boundary adjustment to relieve Alder Elementary School from being overcrowded.

Your child will start attending Wilkes in September 2013. You are invited to an informational meeting at Wilkes to help you and your child/children prepare for the change (Spanish interpreters will be available).
Annual Notice about State Assessments
Oregon Law requires all districts to inform parents that a form is available from the Oregon Deparment of Education that provides the opportunity to opt your child out of the ELA and Math assessments. The form must be filed annually and is available in multiple languages.

Tuesday, June 10, from 6:00-7:00 pm, is our Art Gallery Walk Family Event in the gym at Wilkes.
May 8, 2014, is 5th grade visit day to HB Lee Middle School. Wilkes 5th graders will ride the bus to Lee during the day for building tours and elective forecasting.
Author/Illustrator Matthew Holm, co-creator of Babymouse and Squish books is coming to Wilkes Elementary School! There will be two special assemblies on Tuesday, May 28.

Oregon Battle of the Books
Eleven teams of third, fourth, and fifth graders trained for competition this fall. In February, two teams proved that they had the stamina, the luck, and the guts to reign supreme. These two teams will compete at our district Battle of the Books on April 2, 2016.
Members of the OBOB Readers traveled to Ainsworth School on March 12 to compete against more than 40 other elementary teams. They scored well, took this risk, and above all had fun.

The Wilkes Spring Book Fair is this week, March 4 through March 8. Tuesday night is Dr. Seuss Night.

Please follow these guidelines to help all students stay healthy and ready to learn.
Please DO NOT SEND AN ILL STUDENT TO SCHOOL. The other page of this letter gives examples of when your student should not be in school. If your student is ill, please CONTACT THE SCHOOL.
As a general rule, students are not allowed to bring cell phones to school, or any other hand-held electronic devices.
