Our family is growing! The Reynolds School Board recently voted on a necessary boundary adjustment to relieve Alder Elementary School from being overcrowded.
New Alder Families,
We are so excited to meet each of you and welcome you to the Wilkes Wildcat family. Wilkes is a wonderful place to be and we can’t wait to have you join the fun! Your child will start attending Wilkes in September 2013. You are invited to an informational meeting at Wilkes to help you and your child/children prepare for the change (Spanish interpreters will be available).
Date: Tuesday, May 7, 2013
Time: 6:30 p.m.
Where: Wilkes Elementary Gym
17020 NE Wilkes Rd (turn north on 169th off of Halsey toward the freeway)
We will be providing buses from Alder Elementary for families who need transportation. Please be at Alder Elementary at 6:00 p.m. if you want to ride a bus to Wilkes that night. Buses will return families to Alder at the end of the evening.
At this meeting we will discuss some of the key pieces of our school community that make us unique, and you will get the opportunity to:
• Learn about our SUN program- both summer school and our after school opportunities
• Meet some of our staff members
• Get a tour of our building
• Meet some of our parents from Parent Group
• Ask questions about our school
In addition to this meeting, we plan to have a summer event that will bring together both current and future Wilkes community members. We will send out information on this summer event as soon as it is available.
We know how important your kids are to you, and we want you to know they are important to us as well. It is our goal at Wilkes to help grow happy and successful community members. We strive to make learning fun for everyone - both staff and students! We are a PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Support) school that focuses on being positive with students while maintaining high, clear behavior expectations. We believe the best formula for success is a student’s willingness to work hard, parent’s support for their children and the school, and teachers striving to do whatever it takes. We are always better together!
Our staff looks forward to beginning our journey as a new community this fall. Thank you for sharing your precious children with us. Together, we can make a difference in the life of all the children in our community. I know this is a change for your family, but want to assure you that you are joining a school offering many great things.
Please mark your calendars for our May 7th event. We look forward to meeting you soon
