Troutdale Elementary School students tour new territory

By Teresa Carson, The Gresham Outlook
May 2, 2018

Students at Troutdale Elementary School got a peek at their new digs Friday and liked what they saw.

Exclamations of "whoa" and "amazing" accompanied their entrance into the building.

"It was awesome," said third-grader Eleanor after the tour.

Peyton, another third-grader, said, "I thought it was really nice and big."

The students, decked out in pint-sized Day-Glo construction vests, had to use their imaginations because the new school is framed on the inside, but does not yet have walls.

Fairview Elementary School Report of Fire - All Staff and Students Safe

News Release from Reynolds Sch. Dist.
Posted on FlashAlert: March 20th, 2018 3:24 PM

At approximately 2:20 pm today, March 20, 2018, there was the report of a fire on the rooftop of the new construction at Fairview Elementary in Fairview, OR. A small fire from roofing installation materials broke out on the roof of the newly constructed building. All students had been released from the existing building at 2:10 pm during regular release. Students were leaving the school in buses when the rooftop fire on the new construction was reported and staff remaining in the existing school were evacuated for safety. There were no after-school activities today, so all students had left the area. Portland Fire and Gresham Fire responded and put it out quickly. There was minor damage to one area of the new construction. There are no reports of injury and all students and staff are safe. Reynolds School District is extremely grateful for the quick action of our local fire response. If you have any questions, please contact Stephanie Field, Communications Coordinator, at Reynolds School District (503) 491-3428 or sfield@rsd7.net.
