Reynolds School District proposes $125 million bond to rebuild three elementaries, add high school classrooms

The Oregonian/ Oregon Live
March 2015

Reynolds School District officials hope a proposed $125 million bond measure will fund a healthy list of upgrades and complete rebuilds if passed by voters in May. The bond follows a long master planning process that prioritized district projects based on capacity, seismic conditions and more. The bond would rebuild Fairview, Wilkes and Troutdale elementary schools, add classrooms and renovate Reynolds High School and cover safety and security upgrades at multiple schools.

The $125 million Reynolds School District facilities bond passed by only 275 in Tuesday's election.

"The Reynolds Schools bond measure passed because of the generous support of the members of the Reynolds community," Andrea Watson, district spokeswoman said in a statement. "Thousands of students for many generations to come will benefit from these projects."

Nearly 52 percent of voters or 3,806, approved the bond, compared to 3,531 who gave it a thumbs down.
