Northwest Outward Bound School (NWOBS)

Outward Bound is a leader in experiential and wilderness education. The Northwest Outward Bound School provides exploratory educational experiences to RHS AVID 9 & 10 classes as well as AVID 7 & 8 classes at all three RSD middle schools. Programming is a semester-long progression of team-building activities and discussions centered on self-confidence, teamwork, leadership, and inclusion. In partnership with teachers, the curriculum is delivered as a complement to classroom learning to enhance school engagement and character development. Students learn to reflect on personal values while building interpersonal skills to be successful in school and life. In addition to classroom sessions, the program includes field trips such as rock climbing and high ropes courses that enable students to challenge their perceived limitations and discover they are capable of more than they know.
