WHY DO WE TEST?

Standardized Assessments are used in a variety of ways, including: guiding teacher instruction, individual student feedback on concepts and skills, state testing toward graduation requirements, and college readiness. Below are the different tests and assessments that a student at Reynolds High School will or can take.

STAR Reading & STAR Math

An assessment that can be administered at multiple points throughout the school year for purposes such as screening, placement, progress monitoring, diagnostic, and outcomes assessment.

Winter Dates: 1/2/23-2/2/24

Spring Dates: 5/6/23-6/7/24

OSAS

Annual assessment that measures the extent to which Juniors (11th Grade) have mastered the Common Core State Standards in the subject area of: ELA (English Language Arts), Math, and Science.

ELPA & Alt ELPA

The ELPA21 assessment measures and reports on students’ English language proficiency overall, as well as in reading, writing, speaking, listening, and comprehension.

ELPA Screener

The English Language Proficiency Screener is a tool for determining eligibility for English Language Development services for students entering grades Kindergarten through 12. It is an assessment of a student’s EL proficiency in the required domains of Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking.

ACT

Taking the ACT test can increase your chances of earning new or better scholarships that differ from the ones you can receive from taking the SAT. In addition, colleges use ACT scores to place you in the right classes at the right level.

STAMP

STAMP is a language proficiency tests that tests students in their reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills in a native or learned language. The test provides students the opportunity to earn high school credit, be correctly placed in language courses in college, and/or receive a Seal of Biliteracy on their high school diploma.
