SEI then we help them find their strengths, ignite their passion and identify the plan that will move them in the direction of their dream. The PUDL also connects students to college and further education and leadership opportunities.

Northwest Outward Bound

Northwest Outward Bound School (NWOBS)

Northwest Outward Bound School challenges students to reach further than they thought possible — physically and emotionally — to find the untapped strength within themselves.

Our programs are based in the dramatic settings of the Pacific Northwest, where learning is emphasized through experience, leadership, and service. Among iconic mountains, rivers, forests, oceans, and deserts, students discover skills that last a lifetime, compassion for themselves and others, and a new understanding for what they can achieve.

Native American Youth And Family Center

Native American Youth And Family Center (NAYA)

The Native American Youth and Family Center was founded by parent and Elder volunteers in 1974, and incorporated as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in 1994. Throughout our history, we’ve sustained our diverse traditions while expanding and modernizing our programs and services to meet the needs of our people. We serve self-identified Native Americans, infant to Elder, from across the Portland, Oregon, metropolitan area.

In 2014, we celebrated our 40th year of bringing our community together to sustain tradition and provide mutual support. Read our special edition newsletter, “Celebrating 40 Years of Service” to learn more.

NAYA Family Center strives to fulfill its mission: “to enhance the diverse strengths of our youth and families in partnership with the community through cultural identity and education.” As an urban Indian agency, NAYA Family Center impacts the lives of over 10,000 individuals from over 380 tribal backgrounds annually.

We believe that traditional cultural values are integral to regaining sovereignty and building self-esteem. NAYA Family Center values respect for the environment, places the larger community before the individual, and involves elders. We promote healthy living through positive alternatives to high-risk behaviors, and we promote the values of sobriety, family stability, culture, active lifestyles, and education.

Supporting and empowering students from poverty-impacted
communities to thrive in school, college and career.

Our programmatic supports include early learning, K-12 academics, post-secondary success, and successful entry into career. We continuously work to expand our partnerships and relationships to provide robust support services across all points of the education continuum.

College Possible

College Possible

College Possible is among the largest nonprofit college access and success organizations in the U.S. We believe that by empowering students to access higher education and thrive through college in the face of broader systemic challenges, we can truly change the world.

The college degree divide is influenced by race and income, not by talent or interest. We provide a results-driven program that helps students from diverse backgrounds get into college and persist through graduation. This programming is supported by recruiting, training and motivating recent college graduates who serve through AmeriCorps as near-peer coaches.

All Hands Raised

All Hands Raised

All Hands Raised works on the ground with school community site teams in several key work areas – engaging a team of community members (often including culturally-specific partners, school staff, and industry partners) as equals. These teams use current school-level metrics to identify root causes, test practices and drive change. Together, the team moves toward the heart of the matter, digging into social and emotional challenges and building bridges through critical transition points in students’ educational journeys. Successes and failures are shared with the entire school, across our school districts and throughout the community. The total integration of partners as equals is an essential strategy to ensure equitable changes in policies and systems – this is how we build to large-scale change.

Regional Arts & Culture Council

Regional Arts & Culture Council

We connect artists and creatives to opportunity and access. An independent nonprofit organization, the Regional Arts & Culture Council supports the creative economy in greater Portland by equitably providing funding and services to artists and art organizations; managing and growing a diverse, nationally acclaimed, public art program; and developing enduring public and private partnerships. Through advocacy and engagement, we are building support for our community of artists, arts education, and arts and culture.

And many more!
