Oregon State Assessments

Reynolds School District and Oregon State Assessments for 2023-2024

Every year students in grades 3-8 and 11, throughout Oregon take state assessments prescribed by the Oregon Department of Education.  In addition, Reynolds School District uses Renaissance STAR as both their interim and progress monitoring assessments for students in grades Kindergarten through 10th grade for both math and reading.  Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills (DIBELS) and Indicadores Dinámicos del Éxito en la Lectura (IDEL) are used in grades Kindergarten through 8th grade in order to screen students who need additional reading intervention support.

These tests include (but are not limited to) the following:

English Language Proficiency Assessment (ELPA21) and Alt-ELP

Oregon Statewide Assessments (OSA) - Standard and Extended (ORExt)

Science

English Language Arts (ELA)

Mathematics

STAR Math, Reading, and Early Literacy/Numeracy (K-1) (Renaissance Learning)

Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills (DIBELS)/Indicadores Dinámicos del Éxito en la Lectura (IDEL)

The purpose of the assessments is to show individual student growth over time and to provide supplementary student-specific data that teachers can use to ensure each and every child is on track to reach goals for college and career readiness.

See the Assessment Guide and Calendar below for more details.

Oregon state law requires all districts to inform parents that a form is available from the Oregon Department of Education that provides the opportunity to opt your child out of the ELA and/or Math assessments for the school year. The form must be filed annually and is available in 14 languages. Should you choose to opt your child out of providing valuable information about his/her progress in English Language Arts and/or Math as compared to peers statewide, then please fill out the form found on this website and submit it to Rachel Aazzerah at 1204 NE 201st Avenue, Fairview, OR 97024, or return the form to your child's school.
