Dual Language

parent night at alder

Currently, Reynolds School District has one school that offers a bilingual program. This program is housed at Alder Elementary School.

Dual Language prioritizes closing the opportunity gap for marginalized students, one of our strategic plan goals. The goals of dual language are for students to develop high levels of language proficiency and literacy in both program languages, to demonstrate high levels of academic achievement, and to develop an appreciation for and an understanding of diverse cultures.

To this end, the department provides multiple pathways and entry points for students to become bilingual and biliterate with a variety of programs offered to support the diversity of levels of proficiency in the partner languages:

  • Native language literacy
  • Dual language immersion
  • World language

Students who participate in these programs and reach a high level of academic language proficiency qualify for the Seal of Biliteracy awarded by the State of Oregon.
