Michael Reyes
Michael was raised in a military family. He grew up in many different parts of the country and even abroad. He has lived in East Multnomah County for nearly 14 years and has worked in and around education all his career. From coordinating youth programs to working in higher education, he brings over 12 years of experience in education. Michael also spent six years in philanthropy working closely with community-led efforts for policy change. Many of these efforts aimed to improve Oregon’s educational system, and several succeeded! Now, Michael works at the Oregon Department of Education leading the Latino/a/x Student Success Plan, which supports community-led efforts to improve the educational opportunity gap across the state.
