Michael Reyes
Michael began his career as a youth outreach coordinator for a rural farmworker community in eastern Washington. He then spent 10 years working in higher education at Washington State University Vancouver and Linfield College before transitioning to grantmaking at Northwest Health Foundation and supporting Latinx student success at the Oregon Department of Education. Michael currently works at Meyer Memorial Trust as a Senior Program Officer leading the Our Empowered Youth portfolio.
Michael works closely with community-based organizations to move Oregon towards a just and equitable system – a system that meets the educational needs of all of Oregon’s diverse and amazing students. He does this by centering the voices and experiences of young people, to ensure every student has the opportunity to succeed.
Michael earned his bachelor's degree in zoology and ethnic studies, and a master’s in public affairs from Washington State University.
Michael spends most of his free time with his family: his wife, two children and their dog. He also teaches an all-ages taekwondo class in Wood Village.
