Alternative Transportation -test

Dear Reynolds High School Family,

Welcome back to the 2022-23 school year!  We are excited to welcome our students back to school and look forward to seeing you soon.

Reynolds School District, along with school districts across the nation, continues to struggle with staffing shortages to fill critical bus driver positions to keep our bus routes running normally.  Our goal is to ensure every student who needs bus transportation to and from school has that opportunity.  Unfortunately, due to lower-than-expected staffing, we have had to make some difficult decisions on bus transportation for the start of the 2022-23 school year that have an impact on a number of students.

With these staffing shortages, we have looked at every opportunity to condense or change routes to accommodate as many students as possible.  Through this process, we have identified a number of school bus routes to and from the high school that may be served with existing Tri-Met public transportation service.  Using these alternative transportation opportunities with Tri-Met will ensure students are able to get to and from school using public transportation and allow us to continue district-provided bus service to as many students in the district as possible.  Therefore, the identified bus routes for Reynolds High School have been cancelled and students are required to find alternative transportation to and from the high school starting immediately.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

You are receiving this communication as your student has been identified as living on or near these alternative transportation routes using Tri-Met public transportation.  We realize some students may opt to get a ride to school or use other means of transportation, while others may be required to use this alternative transportation to and from school.  Reynolds School District would like to offer each student affected by the cancellation of their school bus route a free monthly ride pass for Tri-Met.  This monthly ride pass would allow affected students to ride the Tri-Met public transportation buses to and from school, as well as be active to use for any Tri-Met route at any time (nights, weekends, etc.)

Students will ride the Tri-Met bus route to select bus stops where a dedicated Reynolds school bus will shuttle the students to the high school in the morning (only).  Please note the shuttle will not be available to the Tri-Met stop from the high school in the afternoon.

If you opt into this program and your student resides on or near one of the Tri-Met alternative transportation routes, you can request a Tri-Met bus pass below.  After verification that the student is affected by a cancelled school bus route, you will receive information on how to get the Tri-Met bus pass.  Unfortunately, this program is only for verified students affected by identified school bus route cancellations at this time.

Need more information on Tri-Met?  Please go HERE for more information on Tri-Met bus routes.

Again, we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you, your student, and your family.  If you have any questions, please contact the Reynolds Transportation Department at transportation@rsd7.net or call (503) 492-4921.

Thank you!

Reynolds School District
