Assessment
Every year, students in grades 3-8 and 11, throughout Oregon, take state assessments prescribed by the Oregon Department of Education.
Reynolds School District uses Acadience for K-5 assessment of literacy. Acadience-Spanish is used in grades Kindergarten through 3rd grade at our DLI schools to measure Spanish language literacy. i-Ready is used for K-5 math.
Renaissance STAR is administered as both the interim and progress monitoring assessments for students in grades 6th-8th grade for both math and reading.
These tests include (but are not limited to) the following:
- English Language Proficiency Assessment (ELPA21) and Alt-ELPA
- Oregon Statewide Assessments (OSA) - Standard and Extended (ORExt)
- Science
- English Language Arts (ELA)
- Mathematics
- STAR Math, Reading (Renaissance Learning)
- Acadience-Reading
- Acadience-Reading (Spanish)
- i-Ready Math
The purpose of the assessments is to show individual student growth over time and to provide supplementary student-specific data that teachers can use to ensure each and every child is on track to reach goals for college and career readiness.
Oregon state law requires all districts to inform parents that a form is available from the Oregon Department of Education that provides the opportunity to opt your child out of the ELA and/or Math assessments for the school year. The form must be filed annually and is available in 14 languages. Should you choose to opt your child out of providing valuable information about his/her progress in English Language Arts and/or Math as compared to peers statewide, then please fill out the form found on ODE’s website (under “Forms”) and return the form to your child's school.
