2013 Reynolds School District Athletic Hall of Fame Banquet

The Reynolds School District is proud to announce the 2013 class of inductees to the Athletics Hall of Fame:

  • Mike DeBois (1962-1966):  Mike was a three-sport standout in football, basketball and track and field.  During his senior year, he earned all-conference honors as a quarterback and safety on the 1965 state runner-up football team.  Mike went on to compete in football and track and field at Lewis and Clark College.
  • Wendell Wetzel (1978-1982):  Wendell was a state champion gymnast at Columbia High School.  He won multiple individual state titles as he led the Chargers to Columbia's first state team title in 1982.  Wendell went on to compete at Brigham Young University.
  • Jerry Kalapus (1961-1995):  Jerry's boys' tennis teams won numerous conference titles over several decades.  He is also a beloved teacher who still works as a substitute in the Reynolds School District and in 2012 was named Oregon’s Substitute Teacher of the Year.
  • Mike Galloway (1969-2003):  Mike was a highly successful coach of multiple sports at all three of the district’s high schools.  He is one of the few coaches to have the distinction of serving as a Lancer, Charger and Raider.
  • The 1965 Football Team:  Under the direction of Dutch Kawasoe, the Lancers won the Wilco League title and ran their record to a perfect 11 - 0 before falling to David Douglas in state championship game 13 - 20.  The squad was led by a number of all-state players, including the legendary, Butch Woodward, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2012.

This year’s banquet will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2013, at Club Paesano in Cedarville Park.  The evening will begin with a no-host social and silent auction at 5:30pm; followed by a sit-down dinner.  After dinner is served, the inductees will be introduced and recognized for their tremendous contributions to the Reynolds School District athletics program.  This year’s major banquet sponsors are Barclay Events and the Skyland Pub.
