Food Boxes
Snow-Cap provides food for families at its location behind the Rockwood United Methodist Church, located next to the Rockwood Library.  Families can walk in between the hours of 10am and 2pm (until 6pm on Wednesdays) and fill a grocery cart with fresh and canned food.  Identification (not limited to a driver's license) and proof of address are required.  Families are allowed to access food once per quarter but can go monthly with a letter from school personnel describing the reason for on-going food insecurity.

Reynolds School District Bus Drivers continue their over decade-long effort at ending hunger for Reynolds children by bagging food at Snow-Cap each month for delivery to RSD schools.  These bags are handed out to families in need by front office personnel or other staff.  In addition, the bags are available in Room 401 of Reynolds Middle School.  The blue form included in each bag must be filled out completely and returned to Molly Frye at RMS.

Food Pantries
The RMS Food Pantry is open every Friday from 2:30pm - 4:00pm in Room 401; please access the Pantry from the backside of the school (look for the green signs).  The Pantry is open to the entire community.  Participants are encouraged to bring cloth bags.

The Alder Food Pantry is open every Wednesday from 2:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. It is located in the portable situated by the Community Garden; access is from SE 174th.  There is no need to check in at the front office. For the 2021-2022 school year, the Pantry will open September 22.

Housing Needs
211 (http://211info.org/blog/emergency-warming-centers-open) maintains the Multnomah County shelter waiting list (except My Father's House).  A family must continually call the 211 line to learn their status on the list.  The organization will assume a family is no longer interested in shelter assistance if there is no contact from the family for a few days.

Human Solutions has a Homeless Services Program which provides three elements that are critical to homeless families: emergency shelter, housing assistance, and family advocacy.  For program eligibility, getting on wait lists, and other information on homeless services, call 211 or log on to 211info.org.  Please note that 211 is the main way to access services in Multnomah County. You can also contact their offices in Portland at 503.548.0200 or in Rockwood at 503.405.7875.

JOIN (http://www.needhelppayingbills.com/html/multnomah_county_assistance.html) is a homelessness prevention agency that provides case management and a Day Center that can be accessed until 3pm every day.  The Center provides showers, clothing, food, mailboxes, and a safe place to be until the night shelters open.  The offices are one block west of NE 82nd near the Max stop (503.232.2031).

My Father's House (www.familyshelter.org) is a private, faith-based shelter at 5008 W. Powell Boulevard.  The shelter provides case management, employment counseling, parenting classes, and other supports in a hotel-like building with separate apartments for each family.  Transitional housing is available on site after families successfully graduate from the shelter. Interested families should leave a message on the intake line (503.492.3046) every few days until they receive a return call to schedule a screening appointment.
