January 27, 2026
By mutual agreement between REA and district administration, tonight's bargaining session has been postponed. The first bargaining session will now be on February 3, 2026.
January 26, 2026
This month district administration and the Reynolds Education Association are scheduled to begin bargaining for a successor contract. The current CBA expires on June 30, 2026.
The first meeting of the two bargaining teams to discuss ground rules and exchange proposals is scheduled for this Tuesday, January 27th, but a mutually agreed upon location has not been established.
REA initially proposed three locations for the first meeting to take place: 1) RHS auditorium; 2) RHS library; 3) RMS auditorium. REA later added the Woodland Elementary library to their list of proposed locations. REA’s proposal stated that no Zoom livestream would be offered; but rather a recording of each session be made public at a later date.
District administration offered three location options as well: 1) the Edgefield board room with a livestream on Zoom; (2) the OEA office in Gresham with a livestream on Zoom; or (3) fully virtual bargaining on Zoom. All three of these options have been used successfully in past bargaining. Livestreaming during the fall furlough bargaining hosted over 200 virtual attendees at each meeting.
The RSD team believes that a large auditorium is not well suited for productive bargaining sessions and using a school library will displace after-school programs, disrupt school use, and create unnecessary set-up challenges.
To accommodate the REA team’s concerns about the Edgefield board room location, RSD is willing to test a shuttle service using two district vans/small buses between the gravel lot and the Edgefield board room. Additionally, RSD will add temporary lighting in the gravel lot.
The RSD team remains hopeful that a mutually agreed upon location can be agreed upon along with providing a livestream of each bargaining session on Zoom.
