Alternative Transportation

NEWS (02/02/2023):

We communicated previously that due to staffing shortages, Reynolds School District anticipated we would need to cancel a number of school bus routes starting January 31, 2023. We have good news! We have made the decision to restore the previously canceled school bus routes! To accomplish this, we will need to run a second wave of buses at dismissal (only) for the previously selected routes. This may mean that some students riding the second wave of buses from Reynolds High School to drop off locations may be delayed.

Canceled routes are scheduled to be restored on Monday, February 6, 2023. With the routes back on schedule, bus subsidies and TriMet passes will be suspended. If a student has already been issued a TriMet pass, they may continue to use it through the end of February 2023.  Please note that the district may be required to review cancellation of bus routes and further alternative transportation in the future dependent on staffing levels. We apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused our students and parents and we look forward to having the full bus route back on schedule on Monday, February 6!

You can view the regular bus route schedules here.

If you have any questions, please contact the school directly.

Thank you,
Reynolds School District

Alternative Transportation Picture

As Reynolds School District continues to experience challenges in filling bus driver positions in the 2022-23 school year, the District is faced with cancelling a select number of bus routes for Reynolds High School and directing some high school students to seek alternative transportation for the remainder of the 2022-23 school year.  The following bus routes are cancelled effective Tuesday, January 31, 2023:     (Please note that Monday, January 30, 2023 is a non-school day - see calendar here.)

  • 401
  • 402
  • 425(am) / 421(pm)
  • 426 (am) / 416(pm)

If your student is affected by these cancellations, we are recommending your student seek alternative transportation.  If your student's bus route has been cancelled, Reynolds School District would like to offer each student affected by the cancellation of their school bus route alternative transportation in the form of a free monthly ride pass for TriMet.  This monthly ride pass would allow affected students to ride the TriMet public transportation buses to and from school, as well as be active to use for any TriMet route at any time (nights, weekends, etc.).

Additionally, your family is eligible for a one-time payment of $550.00 to help alleviate costs associated with transporting your student(s) to and from school. To receive a monthly ride pass for TriMet public transportation for each eligible student and the one-time $550.00 payment (one per family), please use the form below.

  • TriMet monthly ride passes will be issued to student prior to January 31, 2023.
  • The one-time payment will be issued as a check mailed to the parent/guardian on or around the week of February 27, 2023.  Parent/Guardian mailing address will be verified in the student information system prior to processing.

If your student resides on or near one of the TriMet alternative transportation routes, you can request a TriMet bus pass and the one-time payment below.  After verification that the student lives on or near the affected school bus route, you will receive information on how to get the Tri-Met bus pass.

Please go HERE for more details on TriMet bus routes.

Secondary students should familiarize themselves with TriMet’s Trip Planning program: https://trimet.org/home/planner-trip. This program is easy to use and is reliable. The program now offers real-time display of bus movements!

The program also lists Service Alerts that tell a rider if there is going to be a delay and the reason for the delay. Students can sign up for personal alerts which will notify them through their smart phone or email of possible delays: https://trimet.org/emailupdates/

We apologize for this inconvenience and thank you for your continued patience and support. If you have any questions, please get in touch with the Reynolds Transportation Department at transportation@rsd7.net or call (503) 492-4921.

Thank you!
