Transportation Department Donates Three-and-a-Half Tons of Food to SnowCap Community Charities

Reynolds School District - Oregon

Employees from the Reynolds School District Transportation Department are already known for their heroism in getting students to school safely and for packing 150 food bags every month for students in need.

Today, they ended a food drive that generated 6,656.4 pounds of food for the Fill-A-Bag food program sponsored by Riverview Community Bank, Gresham Ford, Classique Floors, West Columbia Gorge Rotary, Gresham Rotary and the Gresham Outlook. The goal for the food drive is to generate 300,000 pounds of food. As of 7:00 am on Friday, December 16, 2011 the total was at 175,000 pounds. This donation will make a dent in the need for food in our region.

SnowCap Community Charities feeds 10,000 people each month. The Transportation Department took the Oregon State and University Oregon rivalry as part of the competition, with donors designating their cash and food donations in Duck and Beaver stations. The Beavers prevailed in the Civil War with 4,319 pounds to the Ducks 2,877 pounds.
