Sue Mutschler Named 2013 OSEA Employee of the Year

At the Reynolds School Board work session on April 24, 2013, Oregon School Employees Association President Tim Stoelb surprised Reynolds School District employee Sue Mutschler with the OSEA’s 2013 Employee of the Year award. “Over the course of nearly 24 years, this year’s winner has earned a reputation throughout your district as the ‘go-to-gal’ because she is always there – willing and able to help,” Stoelb said of Mutschler.

Members of her family, who had been hiding out in a side room until the announcement, watched as a thankful and tearful Mutschler was quickly surrounded by her friends. Many of Sue's co-workers and colleagues were also present for the surprise announcement.

Reynolds Chapter 37 President Cindy Dominiak, herself an Employee of the Year honoree two years ago, nominated Mutschler. Dominiak wrote in her nominating letter, “She works diligently and conscientiously every day to ensure that students, parents and teachers alike are cared for and have everything they need for a successful school day.”

Employee of the Year — one of OSEA’s highest honors —is bestowed on one educational employee each year. Nominations are received from throughout Oregon and reviewed by a committee of OSEA’s past presidents. Names and any other identifying information are withheld from the committee when it makes its decision.

Sue reported on Thursday that she would be reliving all those tears at the OSEA Conference later this summer.
