Library Connect FAQs

What is Library Connect?
Library Connect provides free Multnomah County Library accounts for students using their student ID number as their library card. Library Connect accounts give access to physical and digital materials. Multnomah County Library is proud to partner with public school districts to increase equity and access for all students and inspire lifelong learning.

What do students have access to?
Library Connect users enjoy all the resources of Multnomah County Library. Students can:

  • borrow materials at any Multnomah County Library location
  • download e-books and audiobooks
  • use resources such as World Book Encyclopedia, National Geographic, and Opposing Viewpoints
  • work virtually with a tutor through Live Homework Help
  • stream movies and music
  • and much more

When will students have access:
As of January 2022, Reynolds School District student accounts have been created and are ready to access.

How does it work?
Library Connect accounts are created automatically. Your child’s/student’s Library Connect number is the school district code plus the student ID number.

Reynolds School District's two-number code is 07.

The default password for a new Library Connect account is your child’s/student’s birthdate (MMDDYYYY). The library encourages students to change their password

What if my child/student already has a library card?
If your student already has a library card, their Library Connect number has been added to their account. Either number may be used to access online resources or to borrow materials. The password and email for the existing account have not been changed.

Are there any costs?
Library Connect is free and there are no late fines. There are never fees for digital materials. Contact the library if items get lost, or if fees are stopping you from using the library. We can help!

If Multnomah County Library books were returned to the school, there may be a delay in removing the books from your student’s account. If you returned books but they are still on the account, please contact the library.

What if I don’t want my child to participate?
Parents should contact their child’s school to opt-out. Students who have opted out will not have access to the same lessons and resources as their classmates unless they have a Multnomah County Library card and know the full card number and password.
