Raiders Host 2nd Annual Reynolds Thanksgiving

Reynolds School District - Oregon

Reynolds High School students and their families came together to celebrate and give thanks at the 2nd annual Reynolds Thanksgiving Celebration held November 20.  The evening event, held in the Reynolds High School Commons, included a free thanksgiving dinner, activities for young children and live music.

“This free community dinner is our way of thanking students and families for being a part of this incredible school,” said event coordinator Emily Cabrera who is also a counselor at Reynolds High School.  “Our hope is that students and families feel like we are a community coming together to enjoy the evening,” she said.

Culinary Arts students alongside the kitchen staff at Reynolds High School helped prepare meals.  Students from Leadership and Early Childhood Development classes provided activities for young children that included a coloring table, hula hoops, ping pong, soccer and a photo booth.

“I love the kid activities going on!  It gives parents an opportunity to speak with one another while the kids are off having fun,” said Reynolds High School Leadership student, senior, Brianna Turner.

Both private and public donations were made to support the event.  More than $2,000 was donated this year to provide the over 400 meals that were served.   Support and donations for the 2015 Reynolds Thanksgiving Celebration community dinner can be made at www.dollarfordinner.com
