Reynolds High School JROTC Cadets Compete

The next drill meet is at Walla Walla High School for the Cascade Mountain League Championship on March 7, 2015. Reynolds is projected to take first and second in Dual Unarmed Exhibition Drill.

Recently, the Reynolds High School JROTC cadets have preformed at the Madras, Crook County and Yakima drill meets. There were many cadets that excelled in their events, earning medals.

Most notable accomplishments go to the following cadets:

Cadet Alli Escamilla:  Took fifth place in Female Physical Training. This event included sit-ups, a mile run and pushups. Cadet Escamilla dominated the paced pushups by doing five minutes straight, which was 90 pushups. Cadet Escamilla got ready for the event by going to the gym, doing at home workouts and completing multiple practice mile runs. During the Walla Walla drill meet, Cadet Escamilla hopes to place higher in Physical Training and for her Color Guard team to place as well. She is thankful for JROTC giving her endless opportunities, helping her prepare for college and making her push herself to accomplish her goals.

Cadet Lakeia Finch and Cadet Sarah Vanorden: Took second place at the Madras drill meet for Dual Unarmed Exhibition Drill and got third at the Crook County meet in the same event. Individually, Cadet Finch got first place with Cadet Yesenia Ramos at the Madras drill meet. Both Cadet Finch and Cadet Vanorden are looking forward to competing at the Walla Walla drill meet after fine-tuning their routine.  Cadet Finch describes JROTC as being like a family to her and loves everything the program has to offer.

Cadet Edgar Reyes: At the Crook County drill meet, Cadet Reyes got third place in Armed Regulation Drill Down. He said that while getting ready for the meet, through repetition, things have become second nature to him. He was proud to be able to represent Reynolds High School in the meet and is looking forward to hopefully competing at the Walla Walla drill meet. Cadet Reyes gives the JROTC program credit for helping him get his life on track and squared away. He has really enjoyed being part of the program for the last three years.

Cadet Natalie Schaffner and Cadet Vannessa Fulton: This team placed third in Dual Unarmed Exhibition Drill. They were surprised by the outcome but acknowledge that their hard work paid off. Their goal is to place first at the Walla Walla drill meet. Cadet Fulton said her partner and her work well together and she is confident in them being able to achieve their goals.
