Oregon Shakespeare Festival

This was RLA’s third visit to Ashland for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival (OSF), where we saw William Shakespeare’s timeless classic Romeo and Juliet and a modern interpretation of a Chinese folktale called The White Snake. OSF is a world-class theater company that offers much more than just seeing “plays.” We enjoyed two interactive prologues, an exploring set-design workshop, and a backstage tour. We learned about all aspects of theater like: background on themes and characters in the plays, production, costuming, and the history of this stellar company. While in Ashland, we toured Southern Oregon University and had an invaluable community-building and educational experience. This trip has become one that students and staff look forward to each year, and we hope to continue this unique RLA and Oregon tradition in the future.
