How to Land a Job (VIDEO-22:36) by PWA

 

PWA Career Readiness Workshop Series

(FREE 3-day workshop for RHS 10th/11th/12th GR)

 

Current sophomores, juniors, and seniors at RHS can SIGN UP to particpate in a FREE, three-day after-school workshop series, led by local business and HR professionals, to learn how to search for jobs, create or update resumes, and participate in mock interviews. 

Space is limited to 20 students (first-come, first-served). Students who finish the series will receive a certificate of completion / job-readiness, as well as a $25 gift card! This FREE workshop series is brought to us from our amazing partners at Portland Workforce Alliance. Thanks, PWA!!!

Students should commit to attending all three sessions.

All sessions will be held in the Career Center from 3:30 PM-5:00 PM.

Activity bus tickets will be available.

East County Rising Youth Fellowship (PAID) 

APPLY to be a Rising Youth Fellow with East County Rising Community Projects

 

East County Rising is seeking youth ages 18-25 to apply for PAID internships as Rising Youth Fellows. Applicants should:

  • Live in or have deep connections with East Multnomah County
  • Be passionate about community advocacy & service
  • BIPOC & LGBTQ+ youth are especially encouraged to apply. 

Rising Youth Fellows will: 

  • Learn to navigate local government
  • Gain experience in community organizing
  • Get connected with changemakers who are already doing the work you want to do!

 

Portland Police Bureau NOW ACCCEPTING APPLICATION for their Cadet Program! 

 

BECOME A CADET! Have you ever thought about a career in law enforcement or criminal justice? The Cadet program through the Portland Police Bureau may be for you!

 

   

 

To be a Portland Police Bureau Cadet, students must: 

  • Meet age requirements (16-20 years old) - you must turn 16 before January 31st to apply.
  • Be a high school or GED program graduate, or a current student maintaining a 2.0+ GPA.
  • Have no arrests or convictions that would prohibit employment as a Portland Police Officer.
  • Possess or have the ability to immediately obtain a valid driver's license or instructional permit, and maintain a good driving record.
  • Be able to pass a background investigation and personal interview. 

The academy typically starts in January and ends in April. Classes are on Saturdays, and they usually run for 12 consecutive weeks.

  • Financial Aid Help: Access to helpful articles to support you in completing the application, or text #FAFSA to 33-55-77 to chat with an advisor (We have a ton of resources to support FAFSA/ORSAA completion this summer!)
  • Text-based Advising: You can sign up to the advising text line that will send timely updates to meet your goals. You can also text in any questions you might have about the college-going or first jobs process, and we’ll help you out.
  • Scholarship Emails: You’ll receive emails about scholarships that are easy and accessible.
  • Help Finding a Job: You can search for entry-level, part-time and flexible jobs in your zip code, and access our jobs content for great tips.
