AVID Students Ropes Course

AVID, Advancement Via Individual Determination, is a global nonprofit organization dedicated to closing the achievement gap by preparing all students for college and other postsecondary opportunities. Established more than 35 years ago, AVID today impacts nearly 1.5 million students in 46 states and 16 other countries/territories.

AVID:

  • Teaches skills and behaviors for academic success
  • Provides intensive support with tutorials and strong student/teacher relationships
  • Creates a positive peer group for students
  • Develops a sense of hope for personal achievement gained through hard work and determination

AVID at Reynolds High School:

AVID has been in Reynolds High School since 2010. Three cohorts have graduated from the AVID program. The class of 2018:

  • 96 percent of all graduating seniors were accepted into a 4-year university.
  • 30 students had a GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Over 13,418 hours of community service were completed.
  • Over $4,200,000 was earned in scholarships.

The class of 2019 is currently receiving their college acceptance letters. Students have been accepted several universities such as:

  • Stanford
  • University of Oregon
  • Oregon State University
  • Portland State University
  • University of Portland
