Success at OSAA State Solo Competition!

OSAA

Last Saturday, April 30, 2016, three RHS instrumental students competed in the annual OSAA Solo Music Championships on the campus of Pacific University in Forest Grove.

Shanea Jorden, junior, performed in the very competitive flute room placing 10th overall.  Shanea is also very involved in our choral and theatre departments.  She performed the very challenging Robert Muczynski flute sonata, accompanied by Mr. Daniel Lee on piano.

Emanuel Aguilar, sophomore, tied for third on Tuba.  His impressive performance featured Lebedev’s Tuba Concerto in One Movement, accompanied by Cindy Pick on piano. Emanuel is also on the wrestling team.

Katie Whittle, senior, is the new Oboe State Champion!!!  She played the Ralph Vaughan Williams oboe concerto with great musicianship and expertise.  Her accompanist was Daniel Lee.  Katie has plans to attend Oregon State University on a music scholarship next fall.

We are so proud of these student accomplishments! Please help us celebrate all of our student performers at their upcoming spring concerts!
