Raider Track and Field Athletes Excel at District Meet!
At the conclusion of the Mt. Hood Conference Track and Field Championships on May 15th, Raider Athletes had secured three individual district titles, several school records, and qualified at least three athletes for the State Championships at historic Hayward Field on May 24th and 25th.
Senior, Courtney Andre', won conference titles in the long jump and the 300 meter hurdles. She was second in the 100 meter hurdles - qualifying for state in all three events. She also broke the school record in the both the long jump (18-00) and the 300 meter hurdles (45.15).
Junior, Quintin Bates, won the conference title in the high jump and a spot in the state meet, and freshman (that's right - freshman), Jesus Ortiz, finished second in the 400 meter dash with a time of 51.44 to secure his spot in the state meet.
A new member of the Raiders boys' distance crew set a school record in the 3,000 meters; junior Ahmed Ibrahim's time of 8:49.39 (less than two seconds off the automatic state qualifier) marks his second PR in the last month of the season and has earned him a chance to run at the state meet as a wildcard qualifier. Ibramin, who has shaved over 80 seconds off his 3,000 time since joining the Reynolds program this year, now holds the distinction of being one of only three Raider boys to run the 3,000 meters in under nine minutes!
Finally, the girls' 4 x 400 meter relay team of Olivia Woods, Godlyne Ulinwa, Hallie Knight and Courtney Andre', set a new school record with a time of 4:08.01.
