November 2019 Athlete of the Month

Congratulations to Mary Pham and Reggie Akles, our Jeff Wiens Athletes of the Month for November 2019!

Mary Pham (10), Cross Country –

Mary can easily be over-looked because she is RHS’s second varsity runner behind a school record-holder and conference champion. However, her times and gritty work ethic are right up there with some of the top girls RHS has seen.  She is very committed and competitive.  You’ll have a hard time finding someone who is a greater teammate and supporter.  In the classroom, she is absolutely brilliant with a 3.89 weighted GPA.  Mary is enrolled in honors classes and her teachers praise her for her tremendous academic achievement. Great student-athlete.

Reggie Akles (12), Football –

Reggie was the catalyst to the end-of-season success for the football team. Over the last month of the season, Reggie had over ten touchdowns, which is incredible over four games.  He was unstoppable on both sides of the ball and an absolute terror with the ball in his hands.  Against North Medford in the first round of the playoffs, Reggie had four touchdowns and over two hundred all-purpose yards.  Even the broadcasters of the game mentioned that North Medford had no answer for Akles.  Reggie earned 1st team All-Mt. Hood Conference honors not only on defense, but as a kick returner and on offense as well. Reggie has re-committed himself to the classroom, dedicated himself to the basketball program, and there is no doubt that Reggie will have a bright future no matter which endeavor he chooses.
