May 2019 Athlete of the Month

Olivia Hutchins (10), Softball –

Olivia is one of the hardest working, genuine and team-oriented athletes at RHS. Being just a sophomore, she leads by example and is appreciated and valued by every player on the softball team. Her attitude and effort and skills behind the plate earned her 1^st team All-Mt. Hood Conference honors as a catcher this season. She batted .378 and had only 2 errors the entire season, which is amazing for a catcher. Olivia is also an accomplished student in the classroom with a 3.91 cumulative GPA.

Spencer Verdieck (12), Baseball -

Spencer had a great month of May. During the 5 games in May, he batted .446 with a slugging percentage of .538. He had 3 doubles during these games and had a on-base percentage of .462. He has been the captain/leader of the team in every way this season. In a year of struggles as whole, Spencer never steered away from trusting the process and made sure everyone stayed on the same path. His maturity and the guidance he gave his teammates had a huge impact. Spencer is a member of RALC and is also a great student with a 3.60 cumulative GPA.
