March 2017 Athlete of the Month

Andre Abel (12), Track & Field

Andre has shown the most incredible leadership each and every day. His focus and work ethic shines so bright--he is an absolute beacon of integrity. He has already earned 21 varsity points for the team (four 2nds and one 4th place finish) in just two meets (100m, 200m and short relay). He is a powerhouse master of explosion that will lead the Raiders all season long. He is an academic all-star as well--his teachers sing the praises of his talents and efforts in the classroom.

Isis Velasquez (12), Tennis

Isis has played 1st varsity doubles the past two years for Reynolds, and was a big part of our big win against Gresham prior to spring break! She always gives 100% in practice and in matches, keeps a positive attitude (that is infectious), and is a wonderful leader for the team. Isis makes sure all players feel like part of the "family," and always stays to show her support until the very last JV match is complete (which is oftentimes 3-4 hours after she has finished her own match). Isis also takes great pride in her school work and attends Middle College in addition to classes at RHS, earning a 3.25 weighted GPA.
