January 2019 Athlete of the Month

Congratulations to Kayley King and Keenan Coleman, our January Jeff Wiens Athletes of the Month!

Kayley King (12), Basketball –

Kayley is a 4-year varsity player and a captain of this year’s team. She is a natural leader on and off the court. Anytime someone on the team is struggling with homework she takes time out of her day to help out. “Kayley is the most coachable player I’ve ever coached”, said Coach Kelsey Stone. Anything that is asked of Kayley, she does without hesitation. She is an extension of the coaching staff, keeping practice going and her teammates focused. Her leadership and hard work will be severely missed next year.

Keenan Coleman (10), Basketball –

Since the start of Mt. Hood Conference play at the beginning of January, Keenan is leading the team in scoring with 12.5 points per game. He made what may be a school record six 3-pointers against Centennial on his way to a career high 19 points. Keenan is shooting an outstanding 43% from the 3-point line and has made 23 3-point shots in eight MHC games. He also leads the team in steals with 1.5 per game and is averaging 1 assist per game. He has become the offensive catalyst and “go-to” player this season.
