December 2018 Athlete of the Month

Christina Chernoff (12), Girls Basketball 

In 11 games so far this season, Christina is the team’s leading scorer, averaging 12.3 points a game. She is one of this year’s team captains and the person the team relies on when points are needed. She is absolutely fearless. Christina is successful in the classroom as well, managing a 3.5 cumulative GPA. She is very deserving of being honored, putting in a lot of the hard work not only this year, but the past 4 years overall.

Joseph Mercado (12), Wrestling

Joseph is the heart of the wrestling team. He leads by example in everything he does. He pushes his veteran teammates and is patient with the new wrestlers. Joseph is the type of kid that you would want in any program and embodies what it means to be a Raider. His work ethic is second to none. Joseph went undefeated in the Kirk Morey tournament, beating some very good opponents. He took 2nd place at the Cleveland tournament that had 21 teams entered. Joseph has built up a 17-2 record so far this year and has not lost a league match.
