September 2019 Athlete of the Month

Kayla May (12), Volleyball –

Kayla is a 4-year varsity volleyball player and a two-time captain. Kayla is verbally committed to play at St Martin’s University next year as a defensive specialist. She is the backbone of the defense and a great supporter when someone makes a mistake; always there with comforting words. When she’s not on the court, she’s busy being a leader in the classroom. Kayla is currently taking numerous Honors classes and holds a 3.98 weighted GPA. She also she serves as the ASB secretary. Kayla stepped up right away as a leader this season. Her teammates respect her and respond to her leadership. Kayla is just an overall amazing you lady who works hard, never complains, is coachable and is always willing to help lead her team.

Pedro Calderon (11), Boys Soccer –

Pedro is an exceptional player in his third varsity season and was voted by his teammates to serve as the team captain. He not only controls the game from midfield, but he scores many of the team’s more spectacular goals and had 15 assists in the month of September. Pedro is committed to the team and the school. He also desires to excel in school to fulfill his objective of playing soccer in college. Pedro is a great example to the younger players on the team and has been a key contributor to the team’s efforts to grow their reputation as a quality program both on and off campus.
