The Children's Defense Fun (CDF) Freedom Schools program is a free six-week summer literacy and cultural enrichment program designed to serve children and youth in grades K–12. The CDF Freedom Schools program enhances children’s motivation to read and makes them feel good about learning.
H.B. Lee Middle School is excited to announce that we will be a Children’s Defense Fund Freedom Schools site this summer. Freedom Schools is a full-day, six-week program for our incoming sixth graders and current Lee students. Student will get empowering literacy instruction and get to be a part of fun activities like cooking, sports, art, music, weekly field trips, and an introduction in African American history and the civil rights movement and the importance of youth voice in movements today.
The camp takes place July 8–August 16 and runs 8:00am–3:00pm, Monday–Friday.
If you are interested in signing up your student, please complete the enrollment form below and email it to Jenna Guertin-Davis at jguertindavis@rsd7.net. If you have any questions, contact H.B. Lee or your school’s counselor.
