October 2018 Athlete of the Month

Congratulations to Kayla May and Miles Wilson, our October Jeff Wiens Athletes of the Month!

Kayla May (11), Volleyball

Kayla has a 3.71 cumulative GPA, is on ASB leadership and is involved in pretty much every way a student can be at RHS. Not only is she a captain of the volleyball team this year, but she is the stabilizer of the team. Her passing average on serve returns (SR) is a 2.38 (1.8-2.1 is excellent). She has 10 digs per match minimum for the season so far. When the team was struggling with the lineup, she stepped into a hitting role and went .222 for the night (comparable to baseball averages). Kayle is a two-time team captain, and one of the most reliable, hard-working and up-standing young people around. She was also recently selected 1st Team All-Mt. Hood conference as a defensive player. She is an amazing young lady in every way: athletic & academic prowess, leadership, and citizenship.

Miles Wilson (10) - Football

The football program success has much to do with the uprising of Miles Wilson. On the field, Miles is among the state leaders in touchdowns scored and yards per carry. He is a tremendously physical player, with speed and quickness. Only being a sophomore, his commitment and contribution are well beyond his years. Against South Medford (the Reynolds Football program's first playoff win in 21 years) Miles rushed for 340 yards and scored 4 touchdowns, putting his team on his back insuring the Raiders would move on to the round of sixteen. Miles earned All-Mt. Hood Conference honors at Running Back and Linebacker (this seldom happens as a sophomore). In the classroom, Miles maintains above a 3.0 GPA and has served his community by helping with the Imagination Station rebuild. Miles exemplifies what it means to be a student-athlete and is considered a leader and role model by his peers.
