Visiting Composer and OMEA

Sydney working with the Pro Cantorum Choir

On Friday, November 17, composer, Sydney Guillaume worked with the Pro Cantorum choir.  He is from Haiti and currently lives in Portland.  They worked on his Haitian Creole piece, "Ansanm Ansanm," which means "All Together."  Sydney is excited to have the Pro Cantorum Choir perform this piece because of Reynold's diverse choral community.

It is a unique and special opportunity to work with the composer of a piece.  The choir performed at the Oregon Music Education Association's conference on Saturday, January 13 at 3:30pm in Beall Hall in the Frohmayer Music Building (961 E. 18th Ave, Eugene, OR) on the University of Oregon campus.

It is an honor to perform at OMEA, earned for years of student hard work and commitment.

For quite some time, our world has seen very somber days: natural disasters, fraticidal wars, social injustice.  All together, let us honor the men and women who have worked for peace and harmony everywhere around the world.  It's our turn now to raise our voices and sing together for worldwide liberty and justice. -Guillaume
