Spanish Heritage Month

Spanish Heritage Month

On Friday, October 2nd 2015, Ms Forestell’s and Ms Hamilton’s ELD classes celebrated Spanish Heritage Month by inviting guests to their classroom. Erika Pinzon, Reynolds ELD Parent & Community Liaison (Spanish) brought two parents, Graciela Hernandez and Gloria Pacheaco , to honor and celebrate our Spanish speaking community. We learned how to make tortillas from corn flour (maize) and an authentic, and spicy, salsa using a stone mortar and pestle. The afternoon included playing a family game from Mexico called “La Loteria” and, of course, a game of soccer, or fotbol. We hope this will be the beginning of an annual celebration at HB Lee Middle School.
