Alder Elementary Closure Information 12/19/2018

Alder Elementary School is closed tomorrow, Wednesday, December 19, 2018 due to being notified late Tuesday, December 18, 2018 that an adult that has been in the building recently has contracted Hepatitis A.  We are taking every precaution to clean the entire building and will be closed to complete this process.  We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.  We intend to receive students and staff again on Thursday, December 20 and you will be receiving more information tomorrow after we have conferred with the health department further for more instruction.  Thank you for your understanding.

Buenas noches, padres y tutores, La escuela Alder Elementary estará cerrada el día de mañana, miércoles 19 de diciembre de 2018 debido a que hemos recibido una noticia a última hora de la tarde que un adulto que ha estado en el edificio recientemente ha contraído la hepatitis A. Estamos tomando todas las precauciones para limpiar todo el edificio y la escuela estará cerrada para completar este proceso. Lamentamos los inconvenientes que esto pueda causar. Tenemos la intención de recibir nuevamente a los estudiantes y al personal  el jueves 20 de diciembre.  Usted recibirá más información mañana después de que hayamos consultado con el departamento de salud para recibir más instrucciones. This is an update to the recent closure of Alder Elementary School on Wednesday, December 19, 2018.  An individual that has spent some time in the building recently was diagnosed with Hepatitis A.  While the Multnomah County Health Department indicates it is an extremely low risk environment, Reynolds School District made the decision to err on the side of caution and closed the school to allow a professional cleaning company to thoroughly clean all surfaces as a proactive measure.  Communications with parents and staff, including the one below from Multnomah County Health Department, have been successfully initiated to bring awareness and understanding of the situation.

Alder Elementary School will be back in session tomorrow, Thursday, December 20, 2018 at regular start time.  The District would like to thank parents, guardians, staff, and community members for their patience and understanding as the District works to ensure the health and safety of our students, families, and staff.
