H.B. Lee, Reynolds, and Walt Morey Middle Schools have been selected by Verizon Innovative Learning to put technology in the hands of our middle school students to foster a more innovative and exciting learning environment.  The free technology and a free digital access plan include extensive teacher training, support, and engagement in powerful learning both in and out of the classroom.  This is an incredible opportunity for your student’s learning, and we are thrilled to be partnering with Verizon Innovative Learning and Digital Promise for this important program.

What can we expect?

Before we can distribute an iPad to your middle school student, there are some important steps that parents and guardians must complete.  These steps include learning about how the program works, what your and your student’s responsibilities will be, and paperwork to be completed to verify you agree to the program rules.  We will be offering access to complete these steps in various languages online and at the school.  Please watch for more information coming soon!

As part of the Verizon/Digital Promise iPad grant, the Verizon Foundation has contracted with Westat to conduct a multi-year study of the program’s impact on teachers and students.  A primary goal of this study is to measure the effect of providing middle school students with mobile technology and 24/7 Internet access. Your child is not required to participate in the study, but the data collected will help Verizon know whether or not their investment is having a positive impact on students’ learning and academic achievement. Although nobody is required to participate, our goal is to have at least 80% of students take the survey.
