What is ASPIRE?

ASPIRE is brought to you by a partnership between Reynolds High School and OSAC (Office of Student Access & Completion) and is located in the RHS College and Career Center. ASPIRE is a free, one-on-one mentoring program to get students in all grade levels thinking about and planning for their futures following high school. An ASPIRE volunteer mentor can help you plan for your future, whether that includes community college or university, trade school or an apprenticeship program, career pathways, short-term certificate programs, on-the-job training or employment following high school.

Your ASPIRE mentor can help guide you to make your current dreams your future success. You can get support in exploring and applying for colleges, financial aid, scholarships, jobs and career planning.  See Mrs. Selby in the College and Career Center for more information about how you can be matched up with an ASPIRE volunteer mentor to help you make your goals a reality!

How do I become an ASPIRE Volunteer Mentor? (FOR PARENTS AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS 18+)

We love our ASPIRE Volunteer Mentors! The schedule is flexible and based solely on the level of commitment you're willing to make; most volunteer mentors commit to 1-2 hours per week or every other week. You will need to complete a Reynolds School District Volunteer Application, submit a criminal background check and participate in a brief training session prior to working with students. All mentoring is done during the school day in the College and Career Center.

As an ASPIRE Volunteer Mentor, you will meet with students and help them:

  • Explore career and educational options
  • Choose the best fit
  • Apply and Pay for their educational choice
  • Use Student Tracker to record their activities and progress
  • Attend volunteer meetings and trainings (orientation, ASPIRE Fall Conference, etc.)
  • Use  ASPIRE printed materials, ASPIRE toolkit (aspireoregon.org), and newsletter
  • Follow ASPIRE guidelines, site policies and regulations regarding confidentiality, meeting times, safety, etc.
  • Complete a volunteer survey at the end of the year
