Athletic Clearance
Although we can't yet take athletic clearance on-line, we have revised our forms. In fact, we've managed to condense the old 7 page packet into 2 front-to-back pages! We hope you will find the new
clearance packet much easier to use. The
OSAA physical exam form is also available in a printable version. Please feel free to send us your
comments and suggestions; we appreciate hearing how we might be able to improve our level of service.
Please remember that academic eligibility is based on the previous term's grades; thus we can't accept clearance for the spring season until the end the first semester. The first practice day for spring sports is February 22, 2010. We will start accepting spring clearance on February 1, 2010. Please visit the OSAA calendar for more important dates.
Additional Parent Information
The opportunity to share the experience of interscholastic competition with your child can be one of the most rewarding aspects of parenthood. However, the transistion from community-based youth sports to high school athletics can present a number of challenges for kids and their parents. Most families have similar questions; everything from, "How can I ensure that my child is academically eligible?" to, "What can I do to help my son or daughter accept their role on the team, or deal with the pain of being cut?" We created an
informational brochure to assist parents as they deal with some of these issues. We hope you find the brochure to be a valuable resource, and please don't hesitate to contact us if you have additional questions.
Help Prevent Hazing
Students participating in school-related activities have a right to be safe and to be free of humiliation and intimidation. While hazing is often considered a minor offense, the results can be devastating for the victims of this type of treatment. Breaking the chain of hazing is very difficult. Often times the initiation of new members is kept secret, and older students may feel that they are entitled to engage in the same behaviors they were subjected to. Please help our coaches, advisors and administrators eliminate hazing by gaining a clear understanding of the issues, and teaching your child that this type of behavior is contrary to the mission of athletics and activities. The
OSAA anti-hazing flyer is an excellent resource.
